Chinese leading electric vehicle manufacturer Guangzhou Xiaopeng Motors Technology Co. Ltd. (XPeng) Vice Chairman Brian Gu praised the rollout of the company's latest X9 model in an interview with CNBC on Friday, calling it a "game changer" for the industry.
The electric seven-seater, which was officially introduced on January 1 with an initial price ranging from 359,800 yuan to 419,800 yuan (~$50,360 to $58,760), is anticipated to become the leading product in its category of multi-purpose vehicles (MPVs). "I think it has some very innovative technology and design as well as superior handling, industry-leading smart driving technology – packed into a very beautifully designed product," Gu told CNBC.
"We anticipate in 2024, we will be growing much faster than the industry growth which means that we can expand our market share," the chairman underscored, adding that he expects the X9 to be a "high margin product" for the company.
