United States Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen and Chinese Vice Premier He Lifeng had "candid, direct and productive" talks between November 9 and 10, it was written in a readout posted on Friday on the Treasury's website.
"Secretary Yellen emphasized that the United States seeks a healthy economic relationship with China that benefits both countries over time. She also stressed that healthy economic competition requires a rules-based level playing field, and raised concerns about the breadth and scale of China's non-market policies and practices and their impact on US workers and firms," it was stated in the readout.
Discussing national security actions, Yellen expressed concerns over Beijing's "recent export controls on graphite and other critical minerals," urging the country not to provide Russia with material support for its defense industrial sector.
