Former Treasury Secretary under Joe Biden's administration Janet Yellen indicated that the recent surge in Treasury yields may have influenced US President Donald Trump's choice to suspend proposed tariffs.
"This is the worst self-inflicted wound that I have ever seen in an administration impose on a well-functioning economy," Yellen stated, referring to Trump's economic policies in an interview with CNN International on Thursday.
Yellen additionally voiced worries about Trump's approach to US economic policy, cautioning that these actions have heightened the risk of a recession.
