The criminal trial of former South Korean President Yoon Suk Yeol is set to start on Monday, April 14, 10 days after he was removed from office for his December 3 martial law declaration, Yonhap reported.
The commander of the First Security Group of the Capital Defense Command, Cho Sung-hyun and the head of the First Special Forces Battalion of the Special Warfare Command, Kim Hyung-ki, are set to take the witness stand. Yoon is required to attend the trial and will be allowed to enter the court via an underground parking lot. Security measures will be set up by the court to secure the trial against potential rallies near the building.
If convicted, Yoon could face a life sentence or the death penalty. He will be the fifth former president to stand criminal trial.
