Zelensky, Trump meet briefly, said to agree to further talks

EPA-EFE/PRESIDENTIAL PRESS SERVICE HANDOUT

Ukrainian Presidential Press Secretary Serhii Nykyforov said on Saturday that President Volodymyr Zelensky and US President Donald Trump met briefly in Vatican City. Both leaders are attending the funeral of Pope Francis, who passed away on April 21.

No official details of the meeting were shared, but a White House official told Sky News that the two presidents had a "very productive discussion" and agreed to hold further talks after the service. According to Vatican sources, the encounter took place shortly before the funeral at St Peter's Basilica, where Zelensky received a spontaneous round of applause from the crowd gathered in the piazza.

This marks the first time the two have met since their controversial meeting in Washington on February 28.
