Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said on Saturday that he and US President Donald Trump discussed the need for a "full and unconditional ceasefire" during a brief meeting in Vatican City.
In a post on X, Zelensky described the encounter as "good" and "very symbolic," expressing hope for concrete results on all the issues they covered, including protecting the lives of Ukrainian citizens and securing a reliable and lasting peace. "We discussed a lot one on one … Very symbolic meeting that has potential to become historic, if we achieve joint results," he stressed.
This was the first meeting between Zelensky and Trump since their controversial encounter in Washington on February 28.
