A severe storm in Houston, Texas, killed at least four people, KHOU 11, a local news station, reported citing city officials. The deaths were confirmed to the Associated Press by Mary Benton, chief of communications and senior advisor to the mayor of the city.

CenterPoint Energy Inc. reported that nearly one million people were left without power for a part of the evening and into the night, according to the news outlet, while footage on X, formerly Twitter, showed power lines knocked down by strong gusts of wind. Additionally, data by PowerOutage.us, a website tracking power outages across the United States, shows over one million Texans without power.

Moreover, thunderstorms blew out windows in high-rise buildings and downed trees across the Houston area. "Take shelter now if you’re in the path of this storm. Head to the lowest floor," the National Weather Service (NWS) warned on X.
