Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky emphasized on Friday the importance of boosting his country's "long-range capabilities" during a phone call with his French counterpart Emmanuel Macron.
Zelensky thanked Macron for France's continued support to Ukraine during its ongoing conflict with Russia and praised Paris' commitment to strengthening his country's air defenses. The expansion of Kiev's long-range capabilities would help deter Russia and "bring peace closer," Zelensky told Macron.
On the other hand, Moscow vowed retaliation after France, the United States, and the United Kingdom allowed Ukraine to use Western-supplied long-range missile systems to strike targets inside Russian territory.
