Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky insisted on Tuesday that his country is ready for and urges a ceasefire before any official peace talks with Russia take place, as the terms of a deal would take too long to negotiate.
Speaking at a regular press briefing, Zelensky noted that Ukraine is ready for discussions "in any format." Still, he stressed that Kiev will never recognize the Russian occupation of Crimea de jure, as "it would be unconstitutional." Zelensky remarked that the country's delegation has the mandate to discuss a full or partial ceasefire with the attendees of the London Summit on Ukraine.
Furthermore, Zelensky spoke about Russia's alleged attacks on the Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant (NPP), adding that Ukraine is ready to join forces with the United States to repair the facility. Additionally, he said he is ready to meet US President Donald Trump on the occasion of the late Pope Francis's funeral.
