Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky told reporters on Monday that he had two phone calls with United States President Donald Trump today, with the first call being one-on-one, and the second call, which was "long" and "different in character," included leaders of France, Finland, Germany, Italy, and the European Union. He noted that a "meeting of all parties," including Ukraine, Russia, the US, and the EU, was being considered, with Turkey, the Vatican, or Switzerland potentially hosting the meeting.
Zelensky stated that during the first call with Trump, he urged the US president not to make decisions without Ukraine, and that he emphasized the importance of a ceasefire and sanctions on Russia, especially the country's banking and energy sectors, in order to reduce its revenue for military purposes. He also said he expects Europe to announce a new "strong" package of sanctions on Russia. The Ukrainian president also expressed hope that the prisoner swap would happen within days or weeks.
