Zelensky: Russia aims to leave Ukraine without energy in winter

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky condemned Russia's mass attacks on Ukraine's energy infrastructure during the Christmas holiday on Wednesday.

During a call with Japan’s Prime Minister Shigeru Ishiba, Zelensky emphasized, that these attacks are part of an effort to deprive Ukrainians of heat and light during winter. Restoring energy systems remains a critical priority, he stated on X. The Ukrainian leader thanked Japan for its humanitarian aid, including energy equipment and shelter construction.

Zelensky said that Ishiba voiced concern over North Korea's alleged support for Russia's invasion, labeling it a threat to Indo-Pacific security and pledging to increase sanctions on Moscow.
