Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said on Wednesday that Ukraine does not necessarily need United States troops on its territory to guarantee its security as long as Washington provides other forms of military assistance. He called on the Trump administration to give Ukraine more Patriot air defense systems or licenses to produce Patriot missiles domestically, and commented it is "strange" if the US continues to sell weapons to Middle Eastern partners but not to Kiev.
Zelensky called on the US to restart discussions on concrete steps to boost support, warning that "a lot of decisions depend" on Washington's direction. He called on US President Donald Trump to "listen to what is going on in Ukraine," inviting him to consult different sources, following Trump's allegations about Zelensky's low approval rating and claims that Ukraine "should have never started it," supposedly referring to the war.
