US: Israel has right to defend itself

United States Department of State Principal Deputy Spokesperson Vedant Patel remarked on Thursday that Israel has the "right to defend itself" against the attack launched on its territory.

Speaking to reporters at a press conference, Patel also commented on French President Emmanuel Macron and European Commission head Ursula von der Leyen with China's leader Xi Jinping, urging Beijing to choose "diplomacy" over "pressure" in solving its dispute with Taiwan.

Earlier in the day, Israel stated it fired a number of rockets toward southern Lebanon following that country's launch of missiles on its territory. Meanwhile, Taiwan claimed it spotted one Chinese aircraft and three warships around the island, which occurred after its leader Tsai Ing-wen's meeting with US House Speaker Kevin McCarthy.
