Economic sentiment indicator in Germany stood at 28.1 points in February, up from 16.9 in the previous month, a survey conducted by the Centre for European Economic Research (ZEW) showed on Tuesday. The assessment of the current economic situation in the country came in at negative 50.0 points, improving by 8.6 points from January 2023.
According to the survey, many participants expect the economic situation to improve within six months. In addition, it is also mentioned that the current situation is still considered relatively unfavorable as, according to ZEW President Professor Achim Wambach, "expectations for long-term interest rates are also rising, and the banking sector indicator has reached its highest level since 2004."
The sentiment of financial market experts regarding economic development in the eurozone also improved, while inflation expectations remained almost constant at negative 83.4 points.
