Mark Zuckerberg, CEO of Meta, claimed on Joe Rogan's podcast on Friday that US President Joe Biden's team pressured Meta employees to remove specific content during the administration's vaccine rollout.
According to Zuckerberg, officials criticized a meme featuring Leonardo DiCaprio, which humorously suggested potential future legal settlements related to COVID-19 vaccines. Zuckerberg stated his team refused to remove the meme, defending humor and truthful content. He accused the administration of attempting to suppress discussions about vaccine side effects, emphasizing that Meta resisted removing accurate information. "I mean basically these people from the Biden administration would call up our team and like scream at them and curse," he said.
These remarks come as Meta announced a drastic change in its moderation policies which could align with growing concerns over censorship as President-elect Donald Trump, critical of content moderation practices, prepares to assume the presidency.
