Sony to raise PS5 price due to high inflation

EPA-EFE/KIMIMASA MAYAMA

Sony Group Corporation announced on Thursday, in a blog post, that it had decided to increase the price of its PlayStation5 (PS5) console in certain parts of the world as a result of the changing global economic environment.

"We’re seeing high global inflation rates, as well as adverse currency trends, impacting consumers and creating pressure on many industries. Based on these challenging economic conditions, SIE has made the difficult decision to increase the recommended retail price (RRP) of PlayStation 5 in select markets across Europe, Middle East, and Africa, Asia-Pacific, Latin America, as well as Canada. There will be no price increase in the United States," it was written in the blog post.

The new price of PS5 with Ultra HD Blu-ray disc drive will now stand at €549.99 in Europe, £479.99 in the United Kingdom, ¥54,980 yen in Japan, ¥4,299 yuan in China, and CAD $649.99 in Canada.
