Amazon Teamsters at two major warehouses, JFK8 and DBK4, in New York City on Friday voted to authorize strikes after the company refused to recognize their union and negotiate a contract.
"Amazon is pushing its workers closer to the picket line by failing to show them the respect they have earned," Teamsters General President Sean M. O'Brien commented. "We've been clear: Amazon has until December 15 to come to the table and bargain for a contract. If these white-collar criminals want to keep breaking the law, they better get ready for a fight," he added.
Amazon employees at 10 sites across the country have organized with the Teamsters, while the company has continuously neglected its legal obligation to negotiate with its unionized workers.
