Inflation in Australia dropped in August, as the country's monthly consumer price index (CPI) increased by 2.7% annually, declining from the 3.5% figure recorded in July, a report released by the Australian Bureau of Statistics (ABS) revealed on Wednesday.
The monthly CPI excluding volatile items and holiday travel stood at 3.0% percent in August, a decrease from the previous month's reading of 3.7%.
Meanwhile, the trimmed mean, a closely monitored indicator of core inflation slowed to 3.4% in August from 3.8% in July. The annual trimmed mean inflation excluded the "falls" in automotive fuel and electricity.
