Armenia and Azerbaijan have reached a ceasefire in the border areas after an armed conflict recently broke again, renewing tensions that have eased since the end of the Nagorno-Karabakh war in autumn 2020.
The clashes broke out after Armenia's armed forces mined some part of the border region, per Russian news agency Tass, prompting a response from the Azerbaijani military.
Local news agency Trend reported the two sides agreed to stop hostilities on Tuesday. "After the response measures taken by the Azerbaijani armed forces, the parties agreed on a ceasefire from 9:00 am local time. At the same time, the Armenian side violated this agreement, but from 09:15 the ceasefire was established," the local media noted.
