The Francis Scott Key Bridge in Baltimore, Maryland, partially collapsed early Tuesday after being hit by a ship, local police said.

"We have reason to believe that there were vehicles and possibly a tractor-trailer," Baltimore Fire Department spokesperson Kevin Cartwright told the Baltimore Sun. According to several videos on social media, a large vessel struck the bridge, leading to a fire outbreak and subsequent sinking. Several vehicles fell into the water below.

The Maryland Transportation Authority announced on X that all lanes in both directions of the I-695 Key Bridge would be closed due to the incident. Traffic is currently being redirected through detours.
