United States President Joe Biden announced on Friday that both Israel and Hamas have agreed upon a ceasefire framework. The announcement comes six weeks after the US administration outlined a comprehensive plan aimed at achieving a ceasefire and ensuring the safe return of hostages.

"There is still work to do, and these are complex issues, but that framework is now agreed to by both Israel and Hamas. My team is making progress, and I'm determined to get this done," the president said in a publication on its account on X.

As per previous reports, the agreement outlines a three-phase resolution to the conflict. The first phase entails a six-week ceasefire, during which Hamas would release 33 Israeli hostages, including all female prisoners, all men over 50, and all wounded individuals. Israel would release hundreds of Palestinians from its prisons and withdraw its troops from densely populated areas to the eastern border of Gaza.
