United States President Joe Biden said in a statement that "significant progress" has been made in Gaza ceasefire negotiations including the United States, Qatar, Egypt and Israel, but without the participation of Hamas. He said US State Secretary Antony Blinken will travel to Israel on Saturday to reaffirm Washington's support for Israel and stress that "no one in the region should take actions to undermine" the ceasefire deal.
Biden claimed that an agreement is now "in sight" and that the US delegation will remain "on the ground to continue technical work over the coming days." Meanwhile, senior officials will meet in Cairo before the end of the week to continue negotiations.
