Biden: Top AI firms agree on responsible innovation

United States President Joe Biden announced on Friday that the country's leading seven companies engaged in employing and developing artificial intelligence technology have committed to adhering to the framework proposed by the Biden administration, which aims to ensure "responsible innovation" in the field of AI.

The companies, including Google, Meta, Microsoft, Amazon, Anthropic, OpenAI, and Inflection, will be required to ensure the safety of their technology before making it available to the public. This will involve assessing potential risks and disclosing the findings to the public. In addition, the companies will need to invest in cybersecurity to protect national security, while also allowing third-parties' oversight over potential "vulnerabilities in their AI systems."

"These commitments are real and concrete, and they're going to help fulfill their fundamental obligations to Americans to develop safe, secure, and trustworthy technology," Biden said.
