United States President Joe Biden said in a statement that due to the country's military moving its aircraft and ballistic missile defense destroyers to the Middle East during the past few days it was able to support Israel, helping it intercept "nearly all of the incoming drones and missiles."
"Earlier today, Iran, and its proxies operating out of Yemen, Syria and Iraq, launched an unprecedented air attack against military facilities in Israel. I condemn these attacks in the strongest possible terms," Biden commented. The head of state further confirmed he had a conversation with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, where he reaffirmed Washington's "ironclad" commitment to the latter.
He added that on Sunday he plans to convene his "fellow G7 leaders to coordinate a united diplomatic response to Iran’s brazen attack." Meanwhile, Axios reported, citing a senior White House official, that Biden told Netanyahu the US won't be backing Israel's potential counteroffensive against Iran.
