United States President Joe Biden announced on Friday that Washington will begin airdropping humanitarian assistance to Gaza in the coming days.
"Aid flowing into Gaza is nowhere nearly enough...lives are on the line," NBC News quoted the US president as saying, adding that "hundreds of trucks" should be delivering aid to Gaza "not just several." "We're going to pull out every stop we can," Biden stressed during the meeting with Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni.
The decision comes amid the stalled negotiations between Israel and Hamas on the hostage release that would secure uninterrupted delivery of humanitarian assistance to the Gaza Strip. This week, hundreds of people have been killed or injured in the Palestinian enclave while awaiting humanitarian aid.
