United States Secretary of State Antony Blinken confirmed on Wednesday that the F-16 jets the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) promised to Ukraine are "en route" from Denmark to the conflict-hit country.
Speaking at the NATO Public Forum in Washington DC, Blinken said that the jets "will be flying in the skies of Ukraine this summer." He added that the alliance is working on an "incredibly robust package" that will be presented in the next few days. Blinken noted that the aid will contribute to a "very clear, strong, robust, and well-lit bridge" to Ukraine becoming a member of NATO.
At the opening of the alliance's ongoing summit, US President Joe Biden expressed his certainty Ukraine will defeat Russia in their current conflict and announced "a historic donation" of five additional strategic air defense systems for Kiev.
