United States Secretary of State Antony Blinken warned on Monday that North Korea is preparing to conduct its seventh nuclear test.

Speaking at the Tenth Review Conference of the Parties to the Treaty on the Non-Proliferation of Nuclear Weapons, Blinken underscored that North Korea continues to "expand its unlawful nuclear program and continues its ongoing provocations against the region."

Blinken stressed that the NPT has had a critical role in safeguarding against a nuclear escalation and urged all the countries, who are in possession of nuclear arms, not to use "or threaten to use nuclear weapons against non-nuclear states that are party to the NPT."
