United States Secretary of State Antony Blinken said on Monday that Washington approved military aid worth $2 billion to Ukraine and 18 other European countries. The announcement follows the authorization of $675 million in military aid to Ukraine alone.
Blinken made the statement ahead of his unannounced trip to Kiev, where he is expected to meet with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky. The state secretary explained that the long-term support will promote regional security and help states "most potentially at risk for future Russian aggression." It is currently unclear which countries will receive funding or what kind of investment it will sponsor.
