United States Secretary of State Antony Blinken emphasized on Wednesday that Ukraine is moving forward on an "irreversible" path towards becoming a member of NATO, but only after its war with Russia ends.
"To invite a new ally, we need consensus. All allies agree that Ukraine will become a member but it’s too early to say when that will happen," he told reporters. In a previous statement, Blinken revealed the transfer of F-16 jets from Denmark to Ukraine.
CNN reported that a collective statement from all 32 NATO allies, gathered in Washington, is anticipated later today to "solidify" the alliance's dedication to supporting Ukraine.
