Bayerische Motoren Werke AG (BMW) told dealerships on Wednesday, in a message retrieved by The Wall Street Journal, that it would absorb tariff costs on some models built in Mexico.

According to the message, the carmaker will "price protect" the Mexico-made 3 Series sedan and 2 Series coupe, including its M2 performance version, until May 1. "However, if the tariff situation remains as it currently is, we may need to reassess after that time," a spokesperson for BMW commented.

With United States President Donald Trump's 25% steel and aluminum tariffs coming into effect, Mexico shared that it would not be reacting for the time being, as it is waiting to see what will happen on April 2.
