European Union High Representative for Foreign Affairs Josep Borrell announced on Tuesday that all of the bloc's members agreed on imposing a new set of sanctions on Russia for its formal recognition of the Donetsk (DPR) and Lugansk People's Republics' (LPR) independence, which will "hurt" the Euroasian country "a lot."
The measures include blacklisting 351 members of Russia's State Duma that supported Moscow's decision on the DPR and the LPR, and 27 individuals and legal entities that are financing anti-Ukrainian agents in Donbass. Brussels also praised Germany's decision to cancel the certification of the Nord Stream 2 gas pipeline.
Earlier in the day, the United Kingdom sanctioned several Russian banks and individuals over their involvement in the crisis.
