Israel's security cabinet authorized Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Defense Minister Yoav Gallant to decide on the "manner and timing" of the country's response to the deadly attack on Golan Heights, Netanyahu's office said Sunday.
Gallant previously vowed strong retaliation against Hezbollah, accusing the group of targeting children and teenagers in the attack, even though the group denied involvement. Lebanon's Foreign Minister Abdallah Bou Habib called for an international investigation, stating that an independent probe into the matter is necessary to discover who is to blame for the assault.
The security cabinet's four-hour meeting also touched upon hostage talks, but it was determined that another meeting would have to take place to continue those discussions, The Times of Israel reported.
