The conservative People's Party (PP) won Spain's European Parliament elections held this Sunday, securing 22 seats and prevailing over the governing party, the Spanish Socialist Workers' Party (PSOE) which came as the second most voted force with 20 seats.
Main opposition party leader Alberto Nuñez Feijoo (pictured) celebrated the victory by saying that it was a "well-deserved triumph that we have achieved by speaking to every voter with sincerity and honesty." In this election, the PP gained nine seats and PSOE lost one compared with the previous period.
The third force will be the far-right party Vox, which won six seats in the European Parliament. Sumar, SALF, and Ahora Republicas won three seats each. Podemos obtained 2 seats. Ciudadanos will not be represented in the next European term.
