Offshore Alliance said on Friday that it voted to reject Chevron Corporation's offer on what the Australian union alliance described as an attempt to "circumvent EBA [enterprise bargaining agreement] negotiations" between the two.
A deal would have prevented strikes at the company's liquefied natural gas (LNG) Gorgon and Wheatstone facilities, currently set to begin on September 7, giving the two sides less than a week to find common ground and resolve their issues.
"Chevron HR reckon that their dodgy non-union EA [enterprise agreement] proposal had 'closed the gap' but the Ballot results show that they are out of touch with OA members and haven't listened to a word spoken in their discussions with members, Reps and the Offshore Alliance," the OA wrote in a statement published on Facebook.
