China's Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Mao Ning (pictured) said on Monday that Beijing's position on countries that were formerly republics of the Soviet Union has not changed.
Mao made the comment after Chinese Ambassador to France Lu Shaye allegedly questioned the sovereignty of former Soviet countries in an interview with a French media outlet, causing condemnation by officials from these nations, as well as some western European countries.
China is prepared to facilitate peace in Ukraine, Mao pointed out.
