China's Commerce Ministry announced on Wednesday the launch of an antitrust investigation into the European Union's exports of dairy products. The decision was made following a complaint by domestic companies claiming that EU dairy exporters have benefited from a total of 20 subsidy projects.
The ministry said the probe should be finished by August 21, 2025, but that it can be extended for a period of six months. The investigation is part of a broader trend in EU-China trade relations, which started when the EU started looking into Chinese electric vehicles and later increased duties on them, accusing Beijing of unfairly subsidizing the industry.
