China performed two hypersonic weapons tests during the summer, the Financial Times reported. People familiar with United States intelligence said the Chinese military conducted tests of a "fractional orbital bombardment system to propel a nuclear-capable hypersonic glide vehicle."
Sources claimed the Pentagon was "stunned" by the launches, which allegedly happened in July and August. They added that US experts are "struggling to understand the capability, which the US does not currently possess" and that China's new technology seemed to "defy the laws of physics." The Biden administration has not commented on the matter.
