China's economy grew by 5.4% in the first quarter of 2025, the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) said Wednesday.
Gross domestic product rose to 31.88 trillion yuan ($4.4 trillion), according to preliminary estimates. The growth rate matched the 5.4% increase in the fourth quarter of last year and beat market expectations for a slowdown.
On a quarterly basis, China's GDP rose by 1.2%.
