Retail sales of consumer goods for December in China landed slightly above analysts' projections, despite decreasing by 1.8% compared to the same time last year, the country's National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) reported on Tuesday.
The measure of total receipts of the retailed consumer goods from January through December 2022 went down by 0.2% on an annual basis to stand at 43.9 billion yuan.
Analyzed by different areas, the data for the twelve-month period showed that the retail sales in urban areas reached 38 billion yuan, down by 0.3% on a yearly basis, while in rural areas the figure remained unmoved year-on-year to reach 5.9 billion yuan.
