United States Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) Director William Burns is set to visit Cairo this weekend to engage in crucial discussions aimed at securing the release of hostages held by Hamas in Gaza, Axios reported on Thursday.

Burns' trip, involving high-level talks with Mossad Chief David Barnea, Qatari Prime Minister Mohammed Bin Abdul Rahman al-Thani, and Egyptian intelligence head Abbas Kamel, follows President Joe Biden's call to Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.

During their conversation, Biden emphasized the urgency of concluding a deal to bring the hostages home without delay, suggesting a need for more flexibility in the Israeli stance.
