Commerzbank revealed on Thursday that its operating profit for the fourth trimester arrived at €528 million surging over three times from €141 million recorded in the corresponding period in 2021. Total revenues in the fourth quarter of 2022 reached €2.36 billion, rising 12.7% compared to the same period in 2021, while net interest income jumped 50.7% to €1.95 billion.
The full-year results showed the bank's revenue advanced by 12% to €9.5 billion, while the operating result in 2022 surged to €2.1 billion from €1.2 billion the previous year, while net interest income added 33.2% to €6.46 billion.
The bank now plans to distribute 30% of its 2022 net profit after the deduction of AT1 coupon payments to its shareholders. "Commerzbank is now able to buffer crises and high extraordinary burdens without affecting its capital base. This gives us the strength to resume capital distribution to our shareholders," CEO Bettina Orlopp stated.
