United States Democrats have widened their majority over Republicans in the upper congressional chamber after Georgia Senator Raphael Warnock was projected to win reelection, according to NBC News and CNN.

Warnock beat his Trump-backed GOP challenger Herschel Walker in runoffs held on Tuesday after neither of the two scored over 50% in the general election in November.

Democrats already won control of the upper chamber, now solidifying their majority in Georgia, to put them 51-49 over the rival party.
