The Democratic fundraising platform ActBlue said it raised over $27.5 million since United States President Joe Biden announced he is ending his reelection bid. The platform's website has been updated to note that donations will benefit Vice President Kamala Harris, who was endorsed by Biden.
According to a New York Times analysis, campaign contributions jumped from an average of $200,000 per hour just before Biden's announcement to $7.5 million in one hour after he dropped out. The campaign has started sending out texts on behalf of Harris, stating that "these are not ordinary times and this will not be an ordinary election" and asking for donations to defeat her Republican opponent, former US President Donald Trump.
