The Walt Disney Company, Fox Corporation, and Warner Bros. Discovery Inc. decided on Friday to drop plans to launch the Venu sports streaming service.

"In an ever-changing marketplace, we determined that it was best to meet the evolving demands of sports fans by focusing on existing products and distribution channels. We are proud of the work that has been done on Venu to date and grateful to the Venu staff, whom we will support through this transition period," it was written in a joint statement.

The plans were first announced in February of 2024. While the original launch date was September 2024, it has since been delayed. In August of the same year, United States District Judge Margaret Garnett temporarily blocked the launch over an antitrust lawsuit brought up by Fubo TV.
