The US dollar sold for more than 4 Israeli shekels on Monday, reaching that price for the first time since April 2015. The Israeli currency was pushed down by extreme uncertainties hanging over the region since the start of Israel's latest conflict with Hamas on October 7. The threat of Israel's invasion of the Gaza Strip adds to concern about the length of the conflict, while the United Nations warns about a humanitarian catastrophe if aid does not reach Palestinians in the next 24 hours.
The dollar gained 0.60% against the shekel at 10:48 am ET, selling for 4.00049.
