Egypt on Saturday said it received encouraging signals from both Israeli and Hamas representatives regarding a potential extension of the Gaza truce by one or two days.
Diaa Rashwan, head of Egypt's State Information Service, stated that extensive discussions are underway to secure an agreement for the extension, with the talks centered on the release of additional detainees.
The initial four-day truce, established on Tuesday, was primarily aimed at facilitating the exchange of 50 Israeli civilians held by Hamas for Palestinians detained in Israeli prisons.
