El Salvador issued an official diplomatic protest to the United States on Friday over US President Donald Trump's earlier remarks in which he used allegedly vulgar language to refer to immigrants coming from a number of countries including the Central American nation. "El Salvador demands respect for its brave and dignified people," country's Foreign Ministry stated, adding that El Salvador expresses "resounding rejection" of Trump's comments.
Earlier this week, Trump administration decided to end the protective status for around 200,000 Salvadoran immigrants in the US, who could face deportation in as early as 2019 unless they adjust their legal status.
