Estonia to close its borders for Russians

Estonia announced on Thursday that it will close its border for Russian citizens with Estonian Schengen visas come next week. However, Russians with Schengen visas from other countries will still be able to enter Estonia.

Earlier this week, Estonia became the third European country, after Latvia and Finland, to call for the European Union to close its borders to tourists from Russian Federation. The three countries, which together with Lithuania form key entry points for Russian travelers, echoed Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky's sentiment on Russians visiting Europe.

"The most important sanctions are to close the borders — because the Russians are taking away someone else’s land," Zelensky stated.
