The European Union slammed on Monday Russia's decision to suspend its participation in the Black Sea gran deal.

"I strongly condemn Russia's cynical move to terminate the Black Sea grain initiative, despite UN and Turkey's efforts. EU is working to ensure food security for the world's vulnerable," European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen said on Twitter.

Earlier, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov announced that Russia was pulling out of the agreement because its demands had not been met. The government representative added that Moscow would return to the initiative if the conditions they set were met.
