Annual inflation in the Eurozone for August was confirmed at 2.2% in Eurostat's second report on Wednesday. The consumer price index (CPI) grew by 0.1% compared to July, down from 0.2% in the preliminary estimate. In the European Union, the CPI rose by 2.4% on a yearly basis and 0.1% month-on-month.
Core inflation in the euro area, excluding energy, food, alcohol and tobacco, stood at 2.8% compared to August 2023 and at 0.3% compared to July, unchanged from the previous report. The highest annual inflation was recorded in Romania at 5.3%, Belgium at 4.3% and Poland at 4%. The lowest CPI was seen in Lithuania at 0.8% and Latvia at 0.9%.
